YOHANES 18:38b- 19:16a

“Maka berteriaklah mereka: “Enyahkan Dia ! Salibkan Dia ! Kata Pilatus kepada mereka: “Haruskah aku menyalibkan rajamu ?” Jawab imam-imam kepala: “Kami tidak mempunyai raja selain daripada Kaisar” (ayat15). Akhirnya Pilatus menilai Yesus tidak bersalah. Tapi kebiasaan politis yang ia lakukan menunjukkan kelemahan pribadinya yang labil. Dan melalui kebiasaan untuk membebaskan orang yang bersalah pada tiap Paskah, Sanhedrin lebih menghendaki penyamun daripada Raja Kebenaran. Pilatuspun menyerah, lalu pencambukan dan pengejekan terhadap Yesuspun segera terjadi. Pencambukan adalah hal yang biasa dalam proses penyelidikan, tapi penggunannya oleh Pilatus dilakukan dengan sewenang-wenang. Dalam pendudukannya, Roma telah berjanji untuk memelihara adat istiadat Yahudi dan hukum-hukumnya yang Pilatus tidak bisa menentangnya. Yesus yang berdiam diri atas pertanyaannya, membuat Pilatus seperti tersengat, maka iapun mengingatkan Yesus bahwa ia memiliki kuasa untuk membebaskan atau menyalibkan Dia. Tapi bagi Yesus kuasa manusia itu bukan apa-apa, Pilatus tidak mempunyai kuasa apa-apa terhadap diri-Nya. Dan sekalipun Pilatus berusaha membebaskan Yesus, tapi kelemahan karakter membuat dia akhirnya tetap menyerahkan Yesus pada mereka untuk disalibkan.Yesus sendiri sadar bahwa karya penebusan yang Ia lakukan tidaklah tergantung pada sang gubernur, maka Iapun menilai dia, Imam Besar yang menyerahkan diri-Nya pada Pilatus lebih besar dosanya. Dibutuhkan karakter yang kuat untuk seorang mampu berdiri diatas kebenaran yang diyakininya. Orang yang tidak teguh memegang keyakinan dan kebenaran yang telah diterimanya, akan mudah melepas keyakinan dan kebenaran yang dimilikinya manakala tuntutan dalam berbagai bentuknya datang. Bertekunlah dalam iman, tetap teguh dan tidak bergoncang dan jangan mau digeser dari pengharapan Injil dan jangan salibkan lagi Rajamu (Kolose 1:23). BELILAH KEBENARAN DAN JANGAN MENJUALNYA.

“Then they cried:” Away with him! Crucify him! Pilate said to them: “Shall I crucify your king?” Answer the chief priests: “We have no king other than Caesar” (verse 15). Finally Pilate considered Jesus innocent. But the political habits he did show weakness unstable personality. And through customs to release the innocent people in every Easter, it was done by Pilate. Sanhedrin wanted robbers more than the King of Righteousness. Pilate gave it up, then licking and self mockery of Jesus’ imminent. Licking are common in the process of investigation, but its use in government Pilate done arbitrarily. In its occupation, Rome has promised to maintain Jewish customs and laws that Pilate could not resist. Jesus is silent on the question, makes Pilate as stung, so he reminded Jesus that he has the power to release or crucify him. But for Jesus’ human power is nothing, Pilate did not have any power to himself. And even though Pilate tried to release Jesus, but the weakness of character makes him finally handed him over to keep them to the cross. Jesus himself was aware that the work of redemption that He does not depend on the governor, and He also thinks he is, the high priest who gave Himself Him in Pilate greater sin. It takes strong character to someone able to stand on the truth of what he believed. People who are not firmly held beliefs and truths that have been received, will be easily removed and the truth of the belief that he had when the demands in various forms appears in her life. Persevere in the faith, stay firm and not be shaken and not turn away from the hope that is in the Gospel and do not crucify your King again for a second time for yourself (Colossians 1:23). BUY THE TRUTH AND DO NOT SELL IT.
