Menghormati Allah ( Respect for God )

KISAH RASUL 12:20-23

“Dan seketika itu juga ia ditampar malaikat Tuhan karena ia tidak memberi hormat kepada Allah; ia mati dimakan cacing-cacing” (ayat 23). Pembalasan adalah haknya Allah dan banyak cara Allah dalam me-laksanakannya seperti yang dialami oleh raja Herodes yang telah menumpahkan darah rasul Yakobus dan orang-orang tidak bersalah lainnya. Ketinggian hati menguasai Herodes, apalagi melihat kenyataan bahwa mereka yang melawannya memohonkan perdamaian kepadanya. Maka tanpa berpikir panjang, dengan segala kebesarannya, didepan rakyatnya ia berani menyamakan dirinya dengan Allah. Sebagai akibat dari sikapnya yang sama sekali tidak memberi hormat kepada Allah, ia harus membayarnya den-gan nyawanya, ia ditampar malaikat Allah dan mati dimakan cacing-cacing. Sungguh tragis nasibnya ketika ia merasa diri kuat, ia harus jatuh dan tidak mungkin bangkit kembali. Tidak ada kesempatan bagi Herodes untuk menyadari kesalahannya dan bertobat. Bentuk sikap tidak menghormati Allah tidak hanya seperti yang dilakukan oleh Herodes, ada bentuk-bentuk lain yang lebih halus lagi penampilan nya. Jika kita tidak mau mengalami nasib seperti Herodes, baiklah kita berhati-hati dengan sikap hati dan juga perkataan kita. Jangan biarkan kekayaan dan kekuasaan dalam berbagai bentuknya membuat kita tidak menghormati Allah. Salah satu bentuk sikap tidak menghormati Allah adalah sembrono dalam membawa persembahan atau seada-adanya dan juga tidak mampu menghormati hamba pilihan Tuhan. Maka, berilah hormat kepada orang yang layak menerimanya dan perhatikanlah persembahanmu (Roma 13:7).

Acts 12:20-23

“And immediately she slapped the angel of God because he does not pay homage to God; he died eaten by worms” (verse 23). Vengeance is God and God has many ways to do it like that experienced by King Herod who had shed the blood of the apostle James and those innocent others. Pomposity over Herod, let alone the fact that those who oppose pray for peace to him. So without thinking, with all his glory, before people he dared to equate himself with God. In consequence of his who did not give respect to God, he should pay with his life, he slapped the angel of God and die eat worms. It’s tragic fate when he felt himself strong, he had fallen and could not rise again. There is no chance for Herod to realize their error and repent. Form of attitude does not honor God not only as that of Herod, there are other forms of more subtle longer looks it. If we do not want to suffer like Herod, let us be careful with our heart and also our words. Do not let the wealth and power in its various forms makes us not honor God. One type of attitude does not honor God is being hasty in bringing offerings or rudimentary only and is not capable of respecting servants of God’s chosen. Then, give respect to those who deserved it and see your gift (Romans 13:7).
