C13.  Kuasa dalam Tabut Allah

I Samuel 5

Bapa adalah pribadi yang berkuasa, tidak saja kuasa-Nya ditunjukkan melalui pemakaian umat-Nya atau hamba-Nya, namun Ia dapat berperkara langsung. Kedahyatan-Nya tidak dapat disandingkan dengan kuasa lainnya.

Sebagai bangsa pilihan, Tuhan mau bangsa Israel membuat Kemah Pertemuan dengan tujuan supaya Allah Yehova berdiam di tengah umat-Nya (Keluaran 25:8). Eksistensi bahwa Ia ada, dan keberadaan-Nya diakui ditengah umat-Nya.

Melalui Musa, bangsa Israel diminta membangun Tabernakel. Di dalam Tabernakel itu Ia akan berdiam. Namun dibagian mana tanda kemuliaan kehadiran-Nya akan ditampilkan? Tabernakel memiliki lebar dan panjang 50 x 100 hasta, alatnya banyak.

Di antara alat-alat Tabernakel yang dibuat dengan tujuan-Nya. Ia akan berdiam di Tabut perjanjian, di antara dua Kerubium di atas tutup Pendamaian, Ia akan berbicara – bersabda- kepada umat Israel (Keluaran 25:21-22), dengan menampilkan cahaya kemuliaan-Nya.

Bila melihat kuasa Tabut Perjanjian, apa yang menjadi kehendak-Nya? bukan bendanya (tabut perjanjian) yang maha dahyat tetapi saat Allah berhadirat maka kuasa-Nya nyata.

1. Peristiwa di Asdod

I Samuel 5:1-5 , “Sesudah orang Filistin merampas tabut Allah, maka mereka membawanya dari Eben-Haezer ke Asdod. ²Orang Filistin mengambil tabut Allah itu, dibawanya masuk ke kuil Dagon dan diletakkannya di sisi Dagon. ³ Ketika orang-orang Asdod bangun pagi-pagi pada keesokan harinya, tampaklah Dagon terjatuh dengan mukanya ke tanah di hadapan tabut TUHAN ; lalu mereka mengambil Dagon dan mengembalikannya ke tempatnya. ⁴ Tetapi ketika keesokan harinya mereka bangun pagi-pagi, tampaklah Dagon terjatuh dengan mukanya ke tanah di hadapan tabut TUHAN, tetapi kepala Dagon dan kedua belah tangannya terpenggal dan terpelanting ke ambang pintu, hanya badan Dagon itu yang masih tinggal. ⁵ Itulah sebabnya para imam Dagon dan semua orang yang masuk ke dalam kuil Dagon tidak menginjak ambang pintu rumah Dagon yang di Asdod, sampai hari ini. ”

Dagon hancur di hadapan Allah

Allah bertindak sendiri dengan kuasa-Nya, sebab Ia Allah yang dahsyat. Jelas Ia tidak sudi disandingkan dengan ilah lain, supaya bangsa yang tidak mengenal Allah yang hidup dapat melihat siapa Allah yang sebenarnya.

I Samuel 5:6-7 , “Tangan TUHAN menekan orang-orang Asdod itu dengan berat dan Ia membingungkan mereka: Ia menghajar mereka dengan borok-borok, baik Asdod maupun daerahnya. ⁷ Ketika dilihat orang-orang Asdod, bahwa demikian halnya, berkatalah mereka: “Tabut Allah Israel tidak boleh tinggal pada kita, sebab tangan-Nya keras melawan kita dan melawan Dagon, allah kita. ”

Tangan Tuhan menekan orang-orang Asdod dengan berat

Tuhan yang berkuasa menunjukan kuasa-Nya kepada orang-orang, dimana tabut perjanjian diletakkan. Malapetaka terjadi di kota kediaman mereka, dan menimpa mereka.

Akhirnya

I Samuel 5:8 , “Sebab itu mereka memanggil berkumpul kepadanya semua raja kota orang Filistin dan berkata: “Apakah yang akan kita lakukan dengan tabut Allah Israel itu?” Lalu kata mereka: “Tabut Allah Israel harus dipindahkan ke Gat.” Jadi mereka memindahkan tabut Allah Israel itu ke sana.”

Karena terlalu berat bagi Asdod malapetaka yang Tuhan timpakan, mereka tidak kuat dan mengusulkan untuk dipindahkan. Akhirnya …

Tabut Allah dipindahkan ke Gat

Orang Gat menerima tabut perjanjian yang dikuduskan oleh bangsa Israel. Bangsa yang tidak mengenal Allah yang hidup itu dengan berani menerima tabut yang telah dirampas dari bangsa Israel.

2. Apa yang terjadi di Gat?

I Samuel 5:9 , “Tetapi setelah mereka memindahkannya, maka tangan TUHAN mendatangkan kegemparan yang sangat besar atas kota itu; Ia menghajar orang-orang kota itu, anak-anak dan orang dewasa, sehingga timbul borok-borok pada mereka.”

Di kota dimana penduduknya menyembah berhala dan Tabut itu diletakkan, terjadi malapetaka …

Tuhan menghajar penduduk kota itu

Terjadi peperangan spiritual dan Tuhan selalu menang. Sama seperti kemalangan dan malapetaka yang menimpa kota Asdod, maka orang-orang di Gat menerima malapetaka pula.

Allah yang kudus tidak bisa dipersatukan dengan perilaku orang-orang yang tidak dikuduskan. Ada peperangan antara kebenaran dan kejahatan.

Senada dalam kehidupan iman kita. Kita hidup bagaikan berperang, perang yang harus dihadapi dan dimenangkan. Kita berperang dengan penguasa di udara (Efesus 6:12), tetapi tidak usah takut karena Roh yang ada pada kita jauh lebih besar (I Yohanes 4:4).

Pindah ke Ekeron

I Samuel 5:10-12 , “Lalu mereka mengantarkan tabut Allah itu ke Ekron. Tetapi sesampai tabut Allah itu di Ekron, berteriaklah orang Ekron itu, demikian: “Mereka memindahkan tabut Allah Israel itu kepada kita untuk mematikan kita dan bangsa kita.” ¹¹ Sebab itu mereka memanggil berkumpul semua raja kota orang Filistin itu dan berkata: “Antarkanlah tabut Allah Israel itu; biarlah itu kembali ke tempatnya, supaya jangan dimatikannya kita dan bangsa kita.” Sebab di seluruh kota itu ada kegemparan maut; tangan Allah menekan orang-orang di sana dengan sangat berat: ¹² orang-orang yang tidak mati, dihajar dengan borok-borok, sehingga teriakan kota itu naik ke langit. ”

Tuhan berperang sendiri, tanpa memakai tentara Israel. Peristiwa malapetaka yang datang menimpa penduduk kota di wilayah Filistin, menimbulkan kengerian pada seisi bangsa itu.

Sehingga ketika tabut perjanjian Tuhan dipindahkan ke Ekron, maka :

Ada kegemparan maut di seluruh kota itu

Orang-orang Ekron tidak mau tertimpa malapetaka yang sama dengan orang-orang Asdod dan Gat. Mereka lalu mengumpulkan semua raja kota orang Filistin untuk mencari jalan keluar dari masalah yang mereka hadapi.

3. Keputusan orang Filistin

I Samuel 6:1-12 , “Setelah tujuh bulan lamanya tabut TUHAN itu ada di daerah orang Filistin, ² maka orang Filistin itu memanggil para imam dan para petenung, lalu berkata kepada mereka: “Apakah yang harus kami lakukan dengan tabut TUHAN itu? Beritahukanlah kepada kami, bagaimana kami harus mengantarkannya kembali ke tempatnya.” ³ Lalu kata mereka: “Apabila kamu mengantarkan tabut Allah Israel itu, maka janganlah kamu mengantarkannya dengan tangan hampa, melainkan haruslah kamu membayar tebusan salah kepada-Nya; maka kamu akan menjadi sembuh dan kamu akan mengetahui, mengapa tangan-Nya tidak undur dari padamu.” ⁴ Sesudah itu bertanyalah mereka: “Apakah tebusan salah yang harus kami bayar kepada-Nya?” Jawab mereka: “Menurut jumlah raja-raja kota orang Filistin, lima borok emas dan lima tikus emas, sebab tulah yang sama menimpa kamu sekalian dan raja-raja kotamu. ⁵ Jadi buatlah gambar borok-borokmu dan gambar tikus yang merusak tanahmu, dan sampaikanlah hormatmu kepada Allah Israel. Mungkin Ia akan mengangkat dari padamu, dari pada allahmu dan dari pada tanahmu tangan-Nya yang menekan dengan berat. ⁶ Mengapa kamu berkeras hati, sama seperti orang Mesir dan Firaun berkeras hati? Bukankah mereka membiarkan bangsa itu pergi, ketika Ia mempermain-mainkan mereka? ⁷ Oleh sebab itu ambillah dan siapkanlah sebuah kereta baru dengan dua ekor lembu yang menyusui, yang belum pernah kena kuk, pasanglah kedua lembu itu pada kereta , tetapi bawalah anak-anaknya kembali ke rumah, supaya jangan mengikutinya lagi. ⁸ Kemudian ambillah tabut TUHAN, muatkanlah itu ke atas kereta dan letakkanlah benda-benda emas, yang harus kamu bayar kepada-Nya sebagai tebusan salah, ke dalam suatu peti di sisinya. Dan biarkanlah tabut itu pergi. ⁹ Perhatikanlah: apabila tabut itu mengambil jalan ke daerahnya, ke Bet-Semes, maka Dialah itu yang telah mendatangkan malapetaka yang hebat ini kepada kita. Dan jika tidak, maka kita mengetahui, bahwa bukanlah tangan-Nya yang telah menimpa kita; kebetulan saja hal itu terjadi kepada kita.” ¹⁰ Demikianlah diperbuat orang-orang itu . Mereka mengambil dua ekor lembu yang menyusui, dipasangnya pada kereta, tetapi anak-anaknya ditahan di rumah. ¹¹ Mereka meletakkan tabut TUHAN ke atas kereta, juga peti berisi tikus-tikus emas dan gambar benjol-benjol mereka. ¹² Lembu-lembu itu langsung mengikuti jalan yang ke Bet-Semes; melalui satu jalan raya, sambil menguak dengan tidak menyimpang ke kanan atau ke kiri, sedang raja-raja kota orang Filistin itu berjalan di belakangnya sampai ke daerah Bet-Semes. ”

Imam-imam Filistin dengan jujur mengakui dahsyatnya Allah Israel, tetapi tetap jadi dukun – imam Filistin (ini menunjukkan kepada orang percaya masa kini bahwa keselamatan itu anugerah). Setelah tujuh bulan lamanya tabut perjanjian ada di wilayah orang Filistin, para raja orang Filistin sepakat untuk memulangkan tabut perjanjian kepada orang Israel.

Sepakat untuk mengirim Tabut perjanjian kembali ke negeri Israel, tidak dengan tangan hampa –hanya tabut saja-, tetapi dengan tebusan salah.

Tabut Allah dikembalikan ke Israel

Orang Filistin “kapok” akan kedahyatan-Nya. Betapa hebat cara kerja Tuhan yang diberikan bagi bangsa Israel, bangsa Israel menunggu, Tabut dikembalikan dengan persembahan emas.

Tadinya Tabut Perjanjian dirampas dalam peperangan, dan di tangan Allah yang mendemonstrasikan kuasa-Nya, tabut kembali –di antar pulang ke Isarel- dibarengi dengan persembahan.

4. Israel bersukacita

I Samuel 6:13-18, “Orang-orang Bet-Semes sedang menuai gandum di lembah. Ketika mereka mengangkat muka, maka tampaklah kepada mereka tabut itu, lalu bersukacitalah mereka melihatnya. ¹⁴Kereta itu sampai ke ladang Yosua, orang Bet-Semes itu, dan berhenti di sana. Di sana ada batu besar. Mereka membelah kayu kereta itu dan mereka mempersembahkan lembu-lembu sebagai korban bakaran kepada TUHAN. ¹⁵Orang-orang suku Lewi menurunkan tabut TUHAN dengan peti yang ada di sebelahnya, yang di dalamnya ada benda-benda emas itu, lalu menaruhnya di atas batu besar itu, dan pada hari itu orang-orang Bet-Semes mempersembahkan korban bakaran dan korban sembelihan kepada TUHAN. ¹⁶Ketika kelima raja kota orang Filistin melihat hal itu, pulanglah mereka ke Ekron pada hari itu juga. ¹⁷Inilah benjol-benjol emas yang dibayar orang Filistin kepada TUHAN sebagai tebusan salah: dari Asdod satu, dari Gaza satu, dari Askelon satu, dari Gat satu, dari Ekron satu; ¹⁸lagi tikus-tikus emas menurut jumlah segala kota orang Filistin kepunyaan kelima raja kota itu, baik kota-kota yang berkubu maupun dusun-dusun sekitarnya; dan batu besar, yang di atasnya diletakkan mereka tabut TUHAN, di ladang Yosua, orang Bet-Semes itu, adalah saksi sampai hari ini.”

Orang Israel di perbatasan melihat dulu Tabut itu dibawa ke Israel dan …

Mereka bersukacita

Ada sukacita yang terjadi tengah bangsa Israel. Betapa dahyat kuasa yang Tuhan tunjukkan. Menunjukkan kepada orang Israel bahwa Ia-lah Allah yang berkuasa, dan bangsa-bangsa menjadi gentar.

Tetapi ditengah sukacita yang terjadi, bangsa Israel sendiri –penduduk Bet-Semes melakukan :

5. Kesalahan yang fatal

I Samuel 6:19-21, “Dan Ia membunuh beberapa orang Bet-Semes, karena mereka melihat ke dalam tabut TUHAN; Ia membunuh tujuh puluh orang dari rakyat itu. Rakyat itu berkabung, karena TUHAN telah menghajar mereka dengan dahsyatnya. ²⁰Dan orang-orang Bet-Semes berkata: “Siapakah yang tahan berdiri di hadapan TUHAN, Allah yang kudus ini? Kepada siapakah Ia akan berangkat meninggalkan kita?” ²¹Lalu mereka mengirim utusan kepada penduduk Kiryat-Yearim dengan pesan: “Orang Filistin telah mengembalikan tabut TUHAN; datanglah dan angkutlah itu kepadamu.”

Orang-orang Bet-Semes melakukan tindakan sembrono. Mereka melongok ke dalam tabut perjanjian.

Sebagai peralatan Tabernakel yang dikuduskan, bangsa Israel telah mengetahui bahwa di atas tabut perjanjian itu shekinah glory –cahaya kemuliaan- tanda hadirat Allah dinyatakan. Tidak boleh sembarang orang dapat mendekati, menjamah apalagi melongok ke dalam tabut perjanjian. Hanya para imam terpilih dan berkenan oleh-Nya, maka hal itu dapat dilakukan, itu pun deng-an aturan yang sangat ketat.

Pada peristiwa dikembalikannya tabut perjanjian dari negeri orang Filistin, ada banyak orang yang menjamah dan melongok ke dalam tabut perjanjian. Akibatnya mendatangkan dampak yang fatal. Tujuh puluh orang –pemimpin- mereka binasa, dari antara limapuluh ribu penduduk yang ada di sana.

Ia membunuh orang Bet-Semes karena mereka melihat ke dalam Tabut Tuhan

Akhirnya orang Bet-Semes minta orang Kiryat–Yearim untuk menjemput Tabut Tuhan, sebab mereka tidak sanggup menahan tabut perjanjian lebih lama.

Sebenarnya tidak harus dipindahkan lagi, sebab kelak ketika dibawa ke Kiryat-Yearim, rumah tempat diletakkan Tabut itu diberkati. Orang Israel layak untuk menerima tabut perjanjian, sebab tabut di buat supaya Allah ada di tengah Isarel. Tetapi orang Bet-Semes melanggar aturan, bertindak berlebihan, mereka melongok sehingga mendatangkan kebinasaan bagi mereka. Semestinya mereka bertobat, bukan memindahkan Tabut Allah!

6. Nasihat

Keluaran 14:14, “Aku akan mengeraskan hati Firaun, sehingga ia mengejar mereka. Dan terhadap Firaun dan seluruh pasukannya Aku akan menyatakan kemuliaan-Ku, sehingga orang Mesir mengetahui, bahwa Akulah TUHAN.” Lalu mereka berbuat demikian.”

Mazmur 121:1-4, “Nyanyian ziarah. Aku melayangkan mataku ke gunung-gunung; dari manakah akan datang pertolonganku? ²Perto-longanku ialah dari TUHAN, yang menjadikan langit dan bumi. ³Ia takkan membiarkan kakimu goyah, Penjagamu tidak akan terlelap. ⁴Sesungguhnya tidak terlelap dan tidak tertidur Penjaga Israel.”

Ada beragam cara-cara yang Tuhan jalankan, Ia berperang dengan malaikat-Nya dan kita berdiam diri. Saat manusia yang terbatas dayanya, maka ada pembelaan Tuhan. Hal itu dinyatakan dengan tegas oleh pemazmur bahwa :

Penjagamu tak pernah tertidur

Tidak pernah lengah, tetapi siap sedia membela dan memelihara anak-Nya. Jangan lemah dan pesimis, tetapi yakin pertolongan Tuhan itu tepat waktunya.

Kebijakan-Nya itu tepat terjadi, sebab kuasa-Nya dahyat. Meski masalah boleh beda, namun bagi orang percaya, yang menjadi penjaga kita adalah sama, di dalam Dia ada ketentraman dan sentosa, buktikan saja ! (Mc-Sr)

C13. Power of the Ark of God
I Samuel 5
Father is a powerful person, not only demonstrated his power through the empowerment of his people or his servant, but can also be expressed directly by Him. His awesomeness can not be matched by any other power. As the chosen people, God wanted the Israelites to make the tent of meeting with the purpose of Jehovah God to dwell in the midst of his people (Exodus 25:8). This shows existence that He is there, and acknowledged his presence in the middle of his people.
Through Moses, the Israelites asked to build the Tabernacle. In the Tabernacle that he would stay. However, where a sign in the presence of His glory will be displayed? The Tabernacle has a width and length of 50 x 100 cubits, inside a lot of tools.

Among the instruments of the tabernacle made with the aim of which is His Glory. Ark of the covenant which God will dwell, and in between the two on the lid Kerubium Atonement, He will speak “said” to Israel His people (Exodus 25:21-22), by displaying His glory.
When you see the power of the Ark of the Covenant, what is His will? not the object itself (the ark) is the mighty, but when God’s presence with  His power is so real.

I Samuel 5:1-5, “When the Philistines take the ark of God, then they brought it from Eben-Haezer to Ashdod. 2 The Philistines took the ark of God, brought into the temple of Dagon and set it on the side of Dagon. 3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next morning, saw Dagon fell with his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD: and they took Dagon and put into place. 4 But when the next day they wake up early, saw Dagon fell with his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD, but the head of Dagon and both his hands cut off and thrown into the doorway, just a Dagon’s body remained. 5 That is why the priests of Dagon and all who enter into the temple of Dagon did not step on threshold of Dagon in Ashdod that, to this day. ”

Dagon destroyed in the presence of God

God’s power to act alone with Him, for He is All-powerful God. Obviously he does not want juxtaposed with other gods, so that people who do not know the living God can see who the true God.

Spiritual warfare occurs always won by the Lord God of Israel. Just as misfortune and calamity that had be fallen the city of Ashdod, then the people in the Gat received too disastrous.
Holy God can not be united with the behavior of people who are not sanctified. There is a war between truth and evil. So also in the life of our faith. We live like a war, a war that must be faced and won. We are at war with the rulers in the air (Ephesians 6:12), but not fear, because the Spirit is in us far greater than the spirit of Attorney is in the world (I John 4:4).

Move to Ekeron

I Samuel 5:10-12, “Then they brought the ark of God to Ekron. When they reached the ark of God but in Ekron, yell at people that Ekron, thus: “They moved the ark of the God of Israel is to us to kill us and our nation.” 11 Therefore they called together all the kings of the Philistines and said: “escort the ark God of Israel; let it back into place, so do not be turned off we and our nation. “Because the whole town was there the excitement of death, God’s hand hit the people over there with a very heavy: 12 people who are not dead, beaten with ulcers, so the cries of the city up into the sky. ”
