KEJADIAN 11:1-9

“Itulah sebabnya sampai sekarang nama kota itu disebut Babel, karena disitulah dikacaubalaukan TUHAN bahasa seluruh bumi dan dari situlah mereka diserakkan TUHAN keseluruh bumi” (ayat 9). Berasal dari satu bapa, wajarlah bila penduduk bumi setelah air bah itu jika mereka masih satu bahasa  dan logatnya. Tapi setelah air bah waktu itu, Allah memberkati mereka dan berfirman supaya mereka beranak cucu, bertambah banyak dan memenuhi bumi. Mereka pergi tapi tetap berkumpul jadi satu di tanah Sinear, bahkan mereka berusaha untuk tetap berkumpul dengan mendirikan sebuah kota dengan sebuah menara yang tinggi, yang puncaknya sampai kelangit supaya mereka tidak terserak keseluruh bumi dan sebuah nama dianggap akan bisa untuk tetap mempersatukan mereka. Dihadapan Allah apa yang dilakukan mereka itu adalah permulaan dari segala usaha manusia dimana mulai saat itu apapun yang mereka rencanakan pasti akan terlaksana. Tapi seluruh bumi harus dipenuhi, maka Allahpun mengacaubalaukan bahasa mereka sehingga pembangunan kota dan menaranya terhenti, maka nama kota tersebut disebut Babel. Apa yang kita anggap baik belum tentu benar dihadapan Tuhan. Apa yang kita anggap baik cenderung hanya berfokus dan bertujuan demi kepentingan diri sendiri ataupun hanya untuk kepentingan kelompok. Itu tidak salah tapi juga tidak selalu benar dihadapan Allah. Yang pasti selalu benar adalah sikap tunduk dan taat akan perintah dan kehendak Allah. Artinya disini apapun yang kita kerjakan adalah untuk kemuliaan Allah dan bukan hanya sekedar untuk mencari nama dan kemulia an diri sendiri. Jangan biarkan diri turut dalam pembangunan babel secara rohani, tapi turutlah dalam pembangunan tubuh Kristus, membangun kesatuan untuk persembahan rohani yang memuliakan nama-Nya (1 Petrus 2:5).

11:1-9 EVENTS

“That is why until now the name of the city was called Babel, because that’s where the mess the language of the LORD all the earth and from there the LORD scattered them throughout the earth” (verse 9). Derived from one father, it is natural inhabitants of the earth after the flood it if they are still one language and accent. But after the flood that time, God blessed them and said that they were childless grandchildren, multiply and fill the earth. They go but still gathered together in the land of Shinar, and even they try to stay together to build a city with a high tower, whose top up to heaven so they are not scattered throughout the earth and a name considered to be able to continue to unite them. Before God that they have done it is the beginning of all human effort which began at that time anything they plan will definitely happen. But the whole earth to be fulfilled, then God was turvy mess out their language so that the construction of the city and the tower stopped, then the name of the city called Babylon. What we think is good is not necessarily right before God. What we think is good tend to just focus and aims for the sake of self-interest or simply for the sake of the group. It’s not wrong but also not always true in God’s sight. What is certain is always right is submission and obedience to the commands and will of God. This means that everything we do here is to the glory of God and not merely to find the name and glory of themselves. Do not allow yourself to participate in a babel of spiritual development, but also is in the body of Christ, build unity to offer up spiritual sacrifices that glorify His name (1 Peter 2:5).
